Marilyn R. Martin has been selected as a presenter at Feel the Fire, the international conference of the The American Creativity Association to be held in Austin, Texas, March 31 through April 3.  Ms. Martin will lead a session entitled Concept Mapping:  A Low Carb Approach to Note-taking, Managing Meetings, Problem Solving, Project Planning, Journaling and Improving Learning.

 

Ms. Martin will also provide graphic note-taking for the keynote addresses and some of the conference sessions during the four day event.  Graphic note-taking is a process for quickly structuring ideas, concepts, or theories by drawing metaphors that represent the knowledge contained therein, with the purpose of creating deeper understanding and making the content more memorable.

 

Ms. Martin is the founder and owner of Marilyn Martin Consulting, and specializes in improving organizations encourage and foster learning for innovation and higher productivity.

Marilyn Martin has been elected 2005 Vice President, Programs of the Austin Human Resource Management Association (AHRMA), replacing Diana Prewitt, who is assuming the position of President Elect.

 

She has been a member of the Programs Committee since joining AHRMA in 2003.  She is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management, the parent organization of AHRMA.  In 2002, she earned a Senior Professional Human Resource certification from SHRM.

Marilyn Martin was presented the 2004 Annie Award by the Austin chapter of ASTD.  Established in 2003, the award is named for Austin ASTD member, Anne Durrum Robinson, who has inspired hundreds of ASTD members to excel in the training profession. The “Annie” is given annually to an Austin ASTD chapter member in recognition for his or her commitment to lifelong learning.

 

Selection criteria include chapter meeting participation and volunteerism at the chapter and community level.  Ms. Martin has been active in the Collaborative Consultants SIG, presented at this year’s Members Helping Members Conference and presented a program for the Instructional Design SIG.  She is a pro-bono instructor at the Center for Non-Profit Organizations at Austin Community College, and also serves on the board of the Austin Human Resource Management Association.
